Kal Stevia Extract is derived from an herb, in the Chrysanthemum family, growing in Paraguay and parts of Brazil called Stevia Rebaudiana.Steviosides are glycosides in the leaves of stevia which account for its sweetness. Stevia is actually much sweeter than sugar. While stevia leaves are 10-15 times sweeter than refined sugar, the extract is 200-300 times sweeter than refined sugar, so a little goes a long way. Stevia's low glycemic levels makes it safe for diabetcs. Stevia actually regulates blood sugar levels as indicated by recent research. Other research indicates that steviosides inhibit the development of plaque and do not interfere with the benefits of flouride for the prevention of cativities.
