NOW IGF-1 utilizes new liposome technology to facilitate absorption of IGF almost immediately. While most capsules, tablets and liquids pass through the digestive tract, which can reduce the amount of IGF-1 absorbed, other forms are absorbed almost immediately without loss of the active ingredient.

IGF-1, Insulin-Like Growth Factor, is naturally produced from HGH (Human Growth Hormone) and is the main hormone secreted by the pituitary gland. HGH is usually produced during strenuous physical activity and during periods of restful sleep, then is quickly converted into IGF by the liver. IGF-1 is also known as Somatomedin C.

As a powerful growth-promoting metabolite IGF-1 production reaches a peak during adolescence to accelerate body growth and development. As we age, the body produces less HGH and IGF-1. At 60 years of age our bodies produce only 25% of the HGH levels produced during adolescence.
